Who runs this?

Someone who wants tags on books and can code.

Is it free?

Yes. This is a passion project. This site is made out of love for reading, and the desire to make that hobby feel less stressful.

Thus, this site will remain free to use. For as long as it exists.

Is it open source?

Not yet. The source code is currently private while I polish things, but the website itself is and always will be free to use without restriction.

What data is collected?

Only what you provide: your username, email address, and optionally a display name. This data is used simply to create your account. It will NOT be sold, shared, or used for any other purpose.

How does tagging work?

Tags are added by the community. When you tag a book, you suggest a label that describes it. Volunteers (tag wranglers) review these suggestions and decide which ones become canonical. This system is inspired by Archive of Our Own's tag wrangling model.

Where does the data come from?

The initial book collection and tag vocabulary on schrodingersdove are seeded data. This is pre-loaded to give the archive a solid foundation. Going forward, the community will grow the collection through submissions and tagging.

• Book metadata. Seed data comes from Open Library, a project of the Internet Archive. Their bibliographic records are dedicated to the public domain under the CC0 license. Book metadata is factual information and not subject to copyright.
• Tags. The initial tag vocabulary is inspired by the tagging conventions popularized by Archive of Our Own (AO3). So kudos to everyone who's ever contributed to ao3! Full credits to you blessed people.
